Details :
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Anne Nye, studied fine art at the University of Idaho and California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland CA following which, she worked as a graphic and fine artist in several parts of the world including Spain and Hawaii.
After years in the graphic design field, Anne finally began working full time at her art in 1997, moving into fused glass in 2000, approaching it very much like she did painting.
Anne lives in Omaha NE with her husband, Richard, (shown here installing a commissioned piece for the new Child Saving Institute). Richard is the “engineer” of the team and works alongside her, making her dreams come true in so many ways!
Special glass is cut and pieced together according to Anne’s original designs, glass is then fired to around 1420˚F (depending on amount of texture desired). Each firing takes about 12 - 18 hrs to complete. Many pieces require a second or third firing.
One of the joys of glass like this is that the color never fades. Unlike any other painted medium, glass pieces can be placed in full sun without the danger of fading making it an incredibly durable investment.
