What are Oval Shaped Diamonds?<\/span><\/h1>\n

The elegant, elongated oval diamond shape has a brilliance and fire similar to the round brilliant. It features 58 facets cut in a symmetrical pattern.<\/p>\n

The elongated shape gives the illusion of a larger stone. It is often used as a center stone with trillions set on either side. In a traditional setting the stone is set the tall way, for a more modern look, set the stone on its side and surround with more stones.<\/p>\n

In oval, pear, marquise, and heart shaped diamonds, a bow tie effect can be prominent. This effect is a shadow caused by light passing through the diamond which creates an illusion of a black bow tie. The degree of the bow tie depends on the quality of the diamond\u2019s cut.
