Breitling’s ultimate all-purpose sports watch is ready for anything. The Chronomat holds a pivotal place in the brand’s modern history. Introduced for Breitling’s centennial in 1984, at a time when quartz movements dominated, it marked a bold return to mechanically driven watches. It was born from a collaboration with the beloved Italian aerobatic squadron, the Frecce Tricolor. When the team asked for an analog timepiece that could withstand the intensity of a jet cockpit and still look stylish enough to be worn to formal events—Breitling developed the “Chronograph Frecce Tricolor.” It was the blueprint for the Chronomat to follow one year later.
